QR Codes Why All The Fuss

Posted on August 11, 2013 · Posted in News

QR codes can be seen everywhere from business cards and film posters to supermarket groceries and clothing labels.

Recent studies in America have shown that 28% of smartphone users have scanned a QR code at some point and that 6% of retail QR scans result in purchases. That is a huge advertising conversion rate!

QR codes are a great way to quickly link someone to further information about your product or service but rely heavily on the viewer knowing their way around their smartphone and then having the right apps to scan the code.

As with any marketing its important the QR code fits in with the rest of the brand identity, that it directs the user to something useful and most importantly that the code actually works.

Little has been said that the same can often be achieved with some apps by scanning a product’s barcode and that many people still do not know what a QR code is.

The jury is still out on the future of QR codes, but if you are going to use them, make sure they are not having a negative effect on the rest of your graphic design and that you don’t just stick the code on your stationery, products and labels as an afterthought.
